Empowered Healthcare
Empowered Healthcare designs curriculum and provides training for consumers and healthcare professionals on how to create a safe healthcare journey and be part of their healthcare team. Founded by Linda Sample, a passionate and heart-centered entrepreneur, her mission is to improve the health and well-being of patients, healthcare professionals and communities through education, collaboration and empowerment. I was so excited to dive into this project because it presented a unique design challenge of incorporating the welcoming and transformative feel of a non-profit within the more conservative, often sterile feel of a traditional healthcare setting.

That’s why I created a brand for Linda that overall feels sleek and professional with delightful pops of playfulness and boldness sprinkled throughout. For example, to symbolize the sense of community of the brand’s mission, I went with a more abstract representation of this concept through circular imagery. We can see how these smaller circles are all a part of the larger whole, and we also get a sense for the movement and transformation this company is inspiring as the circles become larger and more solid as you move to the top of the circle, with the bold purple representing an empowered healthcare consumer or provider.
The word “empowered” itself is large and bold too, but the lowercase, rounded sans-serif font makes it feel welcoming and supportive rather than aggressive or too “in-your-face”. It pairs nicely with the conservative, blue “healthcare” in the capitalized sans-serif font — a nod to the dominant aesthetic you see in a lot of healthcare branding. I also went with a relatively traditional color palette of blue and green, inspiring that sense of trust and community, with a warm purple color to be used sparingly, representing that sense of empowerment and transformation.
Once we had the brand identity created, I also helped Linda implement this consistently across her print and digital marketing materials through stationary, document templates, and social media graphics. The “coming soon” page I developed for her is welcoming, playful, clean, and was designed with a straightforward user experience in mind, as demonstrated by the use of a single page, guiding potential leads through who the business is, what their mission is, and how to get in touch with them.
It was such an honor to help Linda create a brand identity that aligned with the mission and values of the important work she is doing. Having her brand identity, marketing materials, and website has given her the foundation she needed to confidently go out and show the world the incredible value her services can bring to the healthcare system.
