Rachael Mattson Art
This project was particularly special for me since I got to work with my sister, Rachael Mattson! Rachael is an incredibly talented artist whose mission is to create art from a place of authenticity, curiosity, and love in order to capture the beauty of small details and the infinite wonder in every moment. I admire how her art is a tool through which she is constantly learning and working to better understand the world.

Rachael recently began selling her work through Instagram and Etsy, and she decided it was time to invest in her business through a coherent brand identity that she could use across her online presence and packaging. My goal here was to help her capture the joy, creativity, beauty, and awe that her work inspires while creating a brand that also felt calm, optimistic, and down-to-earth.
We wanted the branding to be inspired by a combination of nature, Rachael’s artistic style, and the materials that she works with. I chose a slab serif font for her name that felt elegant but still playful, and I paired it with a custom, abstract floral icon for her primary logo and logo variations. I was also drawn to the clay pots she often paints and ended up developing a Boho-inspired color palette with navy blues, rust, and gold accents. To tie everything together, I sourced a few watercolor and acrylic strokes, paper textures, and gold elements that could be used throughout her stationery and packaging.
